Manchester’s Chinese Arts Centre is a cutting-edge art gallery but lacked a cutting-edge website to showcase its programs and communicate its mission to a wider audience. HopeWorks won a competitive tender to redesign their site, creating a look and feel to complement their programme and improving their user experience.
To begin, HopeWorks ran workshops with Chinese Arts Centre’s staff to define the tone and direction of their new site. We used this data to develop a range of creative options that would communicate the Center’s direction in a modern, visually-exciting way.
The chosen route resulted in a site that pulls users in with colour and a layout that displays both key photography and written content in an engaging way. We also incorporated innovative new features such as ‘Discover Your Chinese Birth Sign’ – serving as both a fun on-site activity for visitors and a way to collate demographic information.
The site was delivered on-time and on-budget, and following the launch, the gallery experienced an increase in site visitors, social shares, and online shop sales.
